Porbeagle sharks are
cold water sharks preferring temperatures of 40-50 degrees and
sometimes cooler. Sometimes confused with a mako,
porbeagles have shorter v shaped teeth and a distinctive white
area on the backside of the dorsal fin. Rarely a jumper,
a porbeagle is still a fast swimmer. |

Mako sharks
are believed by some to be one of the fastest fish in the
ocean. Capable of up to 20 foot leaps, they can
out leap any marlin. Makos have a maximum weight of 1600
pounds of which the larger specimens are female. They
are rare in our waters but are occasionally
hooked. |

Thresher sharks have a
max weight of 900 pounds. They are easily recognized by
the long upper tail section that is almost as long as its body
which is uses to strike fish with. These sharks are
strong fighters, occasional jumpers and very fast
swimmers. |
